Background

This long ghazal of 17 couplets describes one mood throughout: the memory of old gatherings and old passions has returned, and nearly every couplet repeats the point with “again”1. The refrain “kiye hue” gives it the colour of a picture. “Jee dhoondta hai phir wahi fursat ke raat din, baithe rahen tasawwur-e-janaan kiye hue” is its best-known couplet.
