Allama Muhammad Iqbal · Armughan-i-Hijaz

Background

“Armughan-i-Hijaz” was published a few months after the death of Iqbal (21 April 1938). Its first part is in Persian and the second in Urdu. It contains poems written from 1935 until the end of his life23. This poem is in the Urdu part1. An old Baloch advises his son to value the air of his own desert above Delhi and Bukhara, not to give up honour, and to remember that “the fate of nations is in the hands of individuals”.

The poem
